Description:
Looking
for a course that will address the treatment of approaches
that produce the most progress in the shortest amount of
time? Do you want to know how to combine treatment strategies
in order to make each approach more effective? this course
provides an overview of the "power tools" strategies
most effective for the child with modulation, postural, motor
and/or learning and behavioral problems. Join us and discover
how the integration of a variety of strategies result in
significant, measurable changes that are quick and cost effective.
Treatment approaches will include: new perspectives on SI
theory and practice, CranioSacral Therapy applications, metabolic
considerations, modulation strategies: ie intensity concepts
for sensory diet, therapeutic uses of music, rhythm and suck/swallow/breathe
functions.
While some of the techniques discussed can be immediately
put to use, prior experience with traditional sensory integration
principles and practice will make application of these advanced
approaches more meaningful and the complex nature of integrating
them with current practice more successful. Basic sensory
integration principles will not be covered in this course.
Objectives:
Participants will be able to
1. Describe at least 3 of the presented approaches that
can be integrated into treatment.
2. Describe how these approaches interact and/or support
each other in comprehensive treatment of persons with sensory
processing, modulation, motor, learning or autism spectrum
disorders.
3. Demonstrate powerful treatment strategies for 3 or more
of the approaches discussed.
4. Identify personal learning options that will enhance
professional skills toward more efficient/effective treatment.
