This
unique course is designed for the OT and the SLP who
are working together and are interested in focusing on
sensorimotor activities to improve outcomes in the areas
of exploration, attention, self regulation, play skills,
interaction, articulation and language.
This
course will be an interactive one day course. Participants
will have the opportunity to work in small groups to
design goals and activities to reach those goals. Through
slide and videos four case studies/treatment sequences
address clinical reasoning around the diagnoses of:
Modulation Disorder, Down's Syndrome, Dyspraxia/Apraxia,
and Articulation issues.
This course may be of special interest
to past participants of the Partners
with a Purpose: Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy
using a Sensory Integration Approach but attendance
is certainly not required for this course.

This course is offered for .6 AOTA CEUs, Performance Skills, Evaluation & Intervention
Objectives: Participants will be able to
1. Determine when and why to utilize a cooperative approach.
2. Demonstrate activities to facilitate interaction and
attention within a joint session
3. Identify sensorimotor activities that compliment traditional
therapy techniques.
4. Apply strategies that include respiration, somatosensory,
proprioceptive, movement/gravity, and oral motor components
into treatment sessions.
