Nonverbal Learning Disabilities: Understanding the Whole Concept Treatment of NVLD/Right Hemisphere Disorders Using a Comprehensive Approach

This one-day intro-intermediate conference is designed as an overview of best practice assessment and treatment for children with Nonverbal Learning (NVLD) and Right Hemisphere Disabilities. The course addresses the challenges with differential diagnosis and prioritizing intervention strategies. Assessment procedures for self-regulation, social-emotional development, sensory processing and executive controls are reviewed. Case presentations and treatment labs are included in this dynamic course to allow for the effective application of treatment protocols.

Objectives: Participants will be able to:
1. Summarize NVLD and its implications in the home, classroom and community.
2. Demonstrate the process for assessment, differentiating diagnosis and prioritizing goals and treatment objectives.
3. Describe the evidence-based practice concerning NVLD and Right Hemisphere Disorders.
4. Identify specific cognitive training techniques considered best-practice for Right Hemisphere Disorders.
5. Apply introductory level skills for sensory processing, self-regulation and social-emotional treatment protocols as they relate to NVLD and related diagnoses.
